Na
klar! uses helpful illustrations and real-world examples to introduce new concepts
in grammar, pronunciation, conversational German, and reading and writing skills.
Fresh
vocabulary and German culture are embedded in the examples and exercises. The
first level in the series targets young people aged 12-15, and each subsequent
series targets older students.
Vocabulary from each chapter is summarized
on one page at the end of the chapter, making review easier. Periodic
and cumulative review chapters are also helpful study aids. Levels two
and three become increasingly difficult as the basic concepts are mastered
and more complex grammatical issues are introduced.
Language learning must also be cultural learning.
Na klar! reinforces spoken
and written practice exercises with examples from German pop culture, history,
geography, and literature. Each chapter presents new concepts in an entertaining
way which combines German language with cultural education.
Immersion is the key to learning a new language. Each chapter in the Na
klar! series is themed in order to make new vocabulary and grammar easier to
learn and remember, and English is employed only rarely and when absolutely necessary
to explain difficult grammatical concepts.
Exercises are simple to understand,
present recognizable situations and figures, and are effective practice tools.
Supplementing the text books are the work book (das Arbeitsheft) and
the audio CDs. The work book provides further practice exercises. The
audio CDs offer a chance to hear native speakers of German and to respond. Together,
the work book and audio CDs cover both written and conversation German.
